This is a rare late 19th century American antique coal-fired sad iron. It features a highly ornate design with a brass hen figurative lid release/lock and a lathe-turned wooden handle. The iron is non-electrified and weighs 6 lbs. 13 oz. It is a decorative piece with Victorian style, handmade from cast iron. The iron is in original antique condition and measures 8" in width, 8 1/4" in height, and 3 3/4" in depth.
